a memorial by a father to a son who was a victim of
9/11
This young man was only a couple of years older than my Ben. I know there were many lost and my heart goes out to their families and I prayed many hours for them. Waleed's dad visited here and my heart just ached for him. The grief of losing a child is not describable.
Rest Safely in His Care
There are many things in life
That we cannot understand,
But we must trust God's judgment
And be guided by His hand,
And all who have God's blessing
Can rest safely in His care,
For He promises safe passage
On the wings of faith and prayer.

The poem below was sent to me 08/21/02 along with this message:
Hello I am from scotland but live in canada now, I wrote this last year 3 days after the terrible attack on your home. Please use it if you like , I wrote it from my heart. Eileen Fraser, London Ont.
God Bless.
(I think you'll agree, this is a beautiful person)
A View from a civilized person.
It was hard to look out and pretend not to hear
It was hard not to feel anger and fear,
We are taught the skill of being polite
we have learned no-one wins if there is a fight
I worked , I shopped , I took this cab ride
listening and nodding till I got out and cried
His words had confused me, I just had to sit
"Come on America why dont you, just get over it"
How could he say this has he no heart ?
Inside I dare to think, yes our lives are far apart.
Our countries have welcomed life from everywhere
traditions and religions we are taught to always care
Respect these differences and do everthing you can
open up our hearts and assist our fellow man.
We teach your children, and open our minds
we discourage racisim, of any kind
A family residence is offered ,food, advice and more
a kind word , a genuine smile, are given by the score
Now I'm scared and wonder how could this be
Realizing sadly you dont want to live to live like me.
The remark was said firmly you wanted me to hear
You disrespect my values and all that I hold dear.
I am a civilized person and forever I shall be
Our country is my family and that belongs to me.
So now I say to you " we cant get over it"
My family has been violated that we wont forget.
Eileen.
A MOMENT OF SILENCE
I PUT A HAND UPON MY CHEST
INSIDE MY HEART I SAY
AMERICA I THINK OF YOU
AND HOPE FOR YOU TODAY
FOR ALL THE FRIENDS YOU LOST
THE BEAUTY GONE DESTROYED
MAY ONE DAY YOU FIND A WAY
TO HEAL THAT UNFAIR VOID
TODAY WE STAND UNITED
AND SEND WISHES OUT FOR ALL
MAY PEACE BE WITH THE SILENT
MAY "AMERICA" STAND TALL
