Ben could eat a whole pie himself! It was always made with fresh pumpkin. We had large gardens, Ben usually grew the pumpkins. One year he wanted to enter for the "largest pumpkin". One in particular he tended to daily, turning it, etc so it would be even. It was probably 2 foot across when one day he went out to tend to it and something had eaten right through the bottom! He was so upset.
We grew alot of squash too and like the pumpkin Ben did that along with gourds. We made bird houses, etc out of those. Of course there were too many zuchini so I made alot of zucchini bread.
